Angels need your help to reach Holland

October 02 2018

YOUNG street dancers have made it to a European final - but need to raise £10,000 to get there.

The Guardian Angels, a group of 18 boys and girls aged 10-15 who are part of Emersons Green and Mangotsfield-based vDance, have launched a fundraising campaign after qualifying for the UDO European Championships  in Holland next May.

The crew originally qualified for this year's world championships in Germany after qualifying at a competition in Newport but sadly a lack of funds meant they couldn't attend.

They put a huge effort into this year's qualifiers, which took place in Reading in June, so are determined not to miss out again.

Mum Katie Hooper, whose daughter Lilly is a member, said: "The Guardian Angels compete in competitions up and down the country and have had a very successful season resulting in them qualifying for the UDO European Championships. This competition is massive for them but obviously we have to get them there.

"They are frantically fundraising to make this dream become a reality. We have several fundraising ideas, one being a black  tie auction event where  we are kindly requesting donations from friends, family and the general public that we can auction on the night.

"They are a fabulous bunch of  kids who are  working so hard to achieve this and we are desperately looking for local companies to perhaps sponsor them and help fulfil their dream."
