Children's success in quest to solve mystery of the Mighty GodSword
SIXTY primary school children descended on St James Church Hall in search of the Mighty GodSword.
As the week progressed the children eventually discovered that they should have been searching for God’s Mighty Word, which can be found in The Bible.
The church hall had been decked out in keeping with the desert theme and during their travels the children enjoyed craft activities and games every day and sang and danced along with a band of musicians. To help keep fit the children participated in Desert Aerobics each morning, including learning to ‘Walk like a Camel’.
This action-packed week was made possible by a large team of volunteers from St James Church in Mangotsfield, some of whom had given up a week of their holiday to ensure this activity was well staffed and the children had fun. Several teenagers, who had previously attended such holiday clubs, gave up time to support the younger children.
At the end of the week all children were invited to attend a celebration service on the Sunday morning. This was followed by a buffet lunch that was provided by members of the Desert Detectives Holiday Club Team. “There was a real buzz in the hall as everyone then relaxed together and started to discuss ideas for next year!” a spokesman said.
