THERE are three big displays in the Downend area for families to enjoy ahead of Bonfire Night this year.

Best known – and one of the biggest in the whole region – is the Downend Round Table display at King George V playing fields, which this year is being held on Friday, November 2.

It will raise money for charity Bristol Sands, which helps parents affected by the loss of a baby.

Gates open at 5.30pm and there is a children’s display at 6.30pm, followed by a main display at 8pm.

As well as the fireworks there are plenty of entertainments and refreshments, including a licensed bar. Merchandise on sale inside the park will raise money for local groups.

This year, advance tickets cost £7 for over-16s, £5 for 3 to 15s and under-3s go free. Family tickets cost £20 for two adults and two children, and there are also VIP tickets with perks at £15 per person. They are being sold at primary schools and shops throughout the area and are also available online via bit.ly/2EuWCKV.

On Saturday, November 3 there are two big displays to choose from.

Cleve Rugby Football Club will hold its annual display at the Hayfields in Cossham Street, Mangotsfield, from 6pm. The fireworks display starts at 8pm and there will also be a funfair.

Advance tickets for adults cost £6, children cost £3.50 and under-3s go free. A family ticket for two adults and two children costs £15. They can be bought by phone from the club’s office on 0117 957 5775 or online via bit.ly/2ynj579.

On the same evening, Emersons Green Junior Football Club is holding a fireworks spectacular at Walkers Field, Blackhorse Lane.

Gates open at 6pm and the display starts at 8pm. Other entertainments include a bouncy castle, fairground sideshows and face painting, and there will also be hot food and a licensed bar.

Tickets cost £4 per adult and £2 for children under 12, and are available on the night.
