Convoy sets off to test mpg figures
A CONVOY of vehicles set off from ALD Automotive’s Lyde Green head office to test motor manufacturers’ published miles per gallon and and emissions figures.
Twenty petrol, diesel, electric and hydrogen powered cars took a 250-mile circular route past the RAC control centre on the M6. The aim was to test the vehicles in real conditions to prove their Worldwide harmonised Light vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) figures.
The WLTP Challenge is a company car industry event hosted by Fleet World magazine and ALD Automotive.
Matt Dale, of ALD Automotive, said: “Government policy is pushing companies to adopt more sustainable travel policies, and alternatively fuelled vehicles such as electric or hydrogen powered will become increasingly popular. It is therefore vital that we have all the information necessary about their performance and total running costs, and the WLTP Challenge is a great way to identify which vehicles will work for private motorists and company car drivers alike.”
