MORE than 50 homes for older people will be provided in Lyde Green a new building project is given the go-ahead.
A planning application for the new extra care housing scheme has been submitted to South Gloucestershire Council by Housing & Care 21.
The company is a not-for-profit, national provider of retirement housing and care services for older people of modest means. It manages more than 20,000 properties in the UK, providing over 42,000 hours of social care each week.
People are being given until February to comment on the plans for the three-storey, 50 apartment development on Jenner Boulevard.
A spokesman for Housing & Care 21 said: “Should this go ahead, it will see the launch of a new housing offer for people over the age of 55, supporting independent living and creating a number of employment opportunities for local people in the area. Our plans are to offer 50 apartments for affordable rent and shared ownership, with access to on-site care and support from a 24 hour care team if needed.
“Our Extra Care schemes also typically offer a range of communal facilities, including a restaurant, lounge, hair salon, garden area and activity room, which are also open to the public to enable the schemes to become real community hubs. We are aiming for a launch of early 2021 and, should everything go to plan, more information will be made available to the community in the coming months.”
The planning application is open for comment until February 15. To view it, visit bit.ly/2RIwaQq and search for application PK18/4996/RM.
