Green for go as runners brave the elements
RUNNERS dressed to impress as they ran in celebration of a milestone for their group.
The Pomphrey Hill Parkrun is a free event held every Saturday at 9am in Mangotsfield.
Runners tackle a 5km course for fun before meeting up for a coffee afterwards in the Pomphrey Hill Sport Pavilion.
To celebrate the 250th run the organising team held a themed event, with runners all encouraged to turn up wearing something green.
And despite the truly appalling weather on December 15, some even wore full costumes, including superhero the Green Lantern, Brussels sprouts and a Christmas elf.
The event also helped out people in need, with runners encouraged to bring donations for the Resound foodbank in Blackhorse Road. A pile of donations was collected, from tinned food and cereal to boxes of chocolates.
More than 250 runners and volunteers took part in the event and organisers were planning to follow it with a Christmas fancy dress run on December 22, as well as a run on Christmas Day .
