New kit for Emersons Green girls
A GIRLS’ football team has some new kits for its growing squad thanks to a sponsorship deal.
Emersons Green Junior Football Club Under-10’s Girls currently have 23 players over two teams, the Lions and the Tigers.
With their old kit now being handed down to the younger teams, James Cullen, the current manager, was looking for a sponsor for their new match kit.
He found one in Matthews Estate Agents, whose employees include one of the team’s assistant coaches, James Sheedy, based in Knowle.
Mr Sheedy, whose youngest daughter Halle plays for the team, said “It’s important to encourage and support youth football, especially girls’ football, which has grown significantly over the last few years.
“New kits are vital as the kids grow and I’m happy to continue to sponsor a growing club, having sponsored two girls’ teams with Emerson Green JFC in the last two years.”
Mr Cullen was also looking to get a new training kit for the girls and, after negotiations with Ian Lloyd local sports and workwear supplier ID Styles, secured a pink and black kit, personalised with the club logo and initials of the individual girls, which also doubles as an away kit.
Mr Cullen said: “The girls look very smart in their new kits and without the continued support from the likes of Matthews Estate Agents and ID Styles, grass roots clubs just simply couldn’t run.”
