Pupils explore ideas for a healthy life
YOUNGSTERS at Pucklechurch Primary School found out about all aspects of a healthy life in a week-long series of special events.
The school’s health and well-being week involved all pupils taking part in a wide range of activities run by teachers, parents and guest speakers.
They included dentists’ workshops, football with Bristol Rovers coaches, rugby with external coaches, body image coaching, Zumba dance, mindfulness, gardening, music, forest schools, hockey, art and healthy cookery.
The event was organised by the school’s head teacher Alex Capel, who said: “We feel it is vital for our children to focus on the importance of their health and well-being.
“We know the pressures that children can feel and we want to help equip them to deal with this.
“Enabling them to experience as many different opportunities as possible, some of which they may not have thought about before, gives them their own personal tool kit. It is key for our children to have a thorough understanding of how to care for their bodies, from healthy eating to exercise to taking care of minds and learning to relax.
“It was a lovely week, enjoyed by all of the children, our volunteers and staff.”
Staff found that the week enabled children to understand better how to care for themselves, from taking up exercising to music instead of watching videos to discovering how to make vegan biscuits.
