CHILDREN’S favourites were brought to life in the third annual Emersons Green Scarecrow Trail.

Organised by Emersons Green Village Hall, the trail on May 19 and 20 involved 35 scarecrows displayed outside homes in the area.

A total of 170 families participated in the event, sponsored by businesses and some of the hall’s regular hirers.  Any money raised is put back into the hall to fund more community events.

The results were: first, Hansel & Gretel; second,  Stick Man; joint third The Gingerbread Man and Mr Men. The prizes for the scarecrow display were £50 for first place, £30 for second place and £20 for third place. There was also a £30 prize for one scarecrow hunter, from a draw of all the correct entries that were received.

Village hall manager Viv Roberts said: “The standard of the scarecrows was very high and people had put in a lot of effort into making their displays. It was a beautiful day for a fun, family event. It was so lovely seeing so many families out in the fresh air.”
