Success plus! Pageant boost for Emma-Jay
A MUM from Lyde Green is celebrating success at the Miss British Beauty Curve pageant.
Emma-Jay Jones, who has lived in the estate with her two children for two and a half years, became Mrs Bristol Curve in December and followed up with the England title.
The aim of the Curve beauty pageants is to celebrate larger-sized women and boost body confidence.
The British finals were held on August 4 in Kent. Emma-Jay represented Bristol against women from other parts of the UK, and was placed first runner-up.
She took part in three rounds: a ‘glitz and glamour round’ where she wore a Union Jack dress that her friend Jane helped her make, a swimwear round, and an evening wear round, in which she wore a floor length dress and was judged on her poise and elegance.
Overall, Emma-Jay came in second place in the Mrs British Beauty Curve category and also won Best Publicity for her charity and campaign work. She also won Best in Glitz & Glamour round.
Next, Emma-Jay has her sights set on the Miss International Beauty Curve finals in Kent on October 20.
She said: “I'm still trying to take it all in, I can't quite believe that this happening to me. I've had many battles with body image, self esteem, and confidence over the years and I have overcome the challenges to become a very proud plus size girl!
“I want to take this experience and use it to empower women to embrace their beautiful bodies, every lump, bump, wobbly bit and scar – it’s beautiful! Every women deserves to feel amazing in their own skin and it’s about time society recognises we are all different and all unique, and all beautiful in our own way.
“I would also like to say a massive thank you to my sponsors Just For You Bridal, Ludicrous Lengths Salon, and The Showgirl Academy - without them I could not have done it!”
