Wonders of science are so inspiring
BARLEY Close Community Primary School welcomed scientists from UWE Bristol as part of National Science Week.
Dr Gabriel came to talk about DNA, what it is, where to find it and how to extract it. Dr Sarah, a geologist and forensic scientist showed pupils how fossils can be found and what it is like to live in a volcano for six weeks! Dr Steph is a marine scientist and the children were excited to find out about her two-month research project in the oceans around South America. Finally children found out how science helps the police with a talk from a forensic scientist.
Head teacher Jo Williams said the children had been hugely inspired by the scientists and the visitors had been impressed by the pupils' enthusiams and excitement and by the questions they asked.
